SIGGRAPH Asia 2026 Workshop & International AI Film Challenge

AI Film Frontiers

Advancing AI-native filmmaking through artistic expression, technical innovation, and meaningful human–AI collaboration.

Workshop date and venue to be announced

About AI Film Frontiers

AI Film Frontiers (AIFF) explores how generative AI is transforming the filmmaking pipeline—expanding artistic expression while redefining how creators collaborate with AI throughout the creative process. The workshop highlights AI-native filmmaking workflows and investigates key technical challenges, including character consistency, multi-shot narrative coherence, audio-visual generation, controllability, and effective human–AI collaboration.

AIFF features an international AI Film Challenge. Creators submit an AI-generated film together with a Technical Report that documents the ideas, tools, human interventions, technical challenges, and workflow innovations behind the production. Award-winning films and their reports will be presented at SIGGRAPH Asia 2026: films will be screened during the workshop, and accepted Technical Reports will be published in the SIGGRAPH Asia 2026 Proceedings.

Submission

A complete entry consists of two coordinated submissions: the film and its accompanying Technical Report.

1. AI-Generated Film

Submit the finished film through FilmFreeway. The dedicated AIFF FilmFreeway page and detailed film requirements will be announced here.

Submission channel: FilmFreeway

  • Film entry: one finished AI-generated film, submitted as required by FilmFreeway.
  • Screening materials: provide the final video file or streaming link and any supporting metadata requested.
  • Enhanced Access registration: at least one representative must register for Enhanced Access to accept awards and participate at SIGGRAPH Asia 2026. This may be the author or a friend who attends.

2. Technical Report

Submit the report through the SIGGRAPH Submission System. Reports must use the ACM Tech Communications template with the sigconf style and are limited to 4 pages.

Review: single-blind review. After acceptance, author names and affiliations must remain unchanged.

Submission channel: SIGGRAPH Asia Linklings

  • Project Overview: describe the project, motivation, and creative goals.
  • Creative Workflow: explain the production pipeline, including AI models, tools, software, and human intervention.
  • Technical Challenges: discuss consistency, narrative coherence, audio-visual alignment, controllability, and your workflow solutions.
  • Copyright Declaration: state ownership and licensing of all assets using the required declaration template.

Review Process

AI Film Frontiers is evaluated across multiple dimensions, including artistic quality and technical contribution.

1

Eligibility Check

Organizers verify that both the film and Technical Report have been submitted and that the entry satisfies the announced requirements.

2

Artistic Dimension

Reviewers evaluate cinematic quality, storytelling, originality, creativity, and the strength of the film's artistic expression.

3

Technical Dimension

Reviewers assess workflow design, the clarity of the report, the significance of the technical challenges, and the novelty and effectiveness of the proposed solutions.

Award decisions are based on the combined artistic and technical dimensions. Selected films and their corresponding reports will be presented together at SIGGRAPH Asia 2026.
